Abstract
This work discusses the results of a study conducted in 20 reputed manufacturing companies belonging to automobile sector in Chennai, India, regarding the benefits of knowledge gain in technical training and its impact on the supply chain management. Technical training of employees has become one of the major activities in modern industries in India. In the business environment, which has undergone globalization, employee education results in giving an organization competitive advantage. Rapid growth in technology and competition has given continuous learning a strategic importance. Training forms the backbone of the implementation of Total Quality Management. In this work, the impact of technical training is measured and various effects of training programmes are analyzed and summarized. The study throws light into the various effects of technical training, which will be beneficial for the companies offering such programmes. The results show that the knowledge gained during the technical training in industries results in benefits in all areas of supply chain management.
