Abstract
This article reviews the classification of Thai Higher Education, which drives thestrategic planning goals of higher education both at institutional and national levels.Clarifying the strategic planning of higher education is significant because it enablesthe provision of human resources to meet the nation’s demand with high achievinglearners. It will manage government and private sector budgets to support. Currently,under the control of higher education policy, the classification of higher education isclustered variously by diverse missions. According to the announcement of ThaiHigher Education Institute Standards on November 12, 2008, higher educationinstitutions are divided into 4 kinds as follows, 1) Community College 2) Teaching University3) Specialized University 4) Research University focusing on providing doctoral degreegraduates. Ranking of each of 4–kinds of university would be helpful to strengthen theThai Higher Education Institute competitive capabilities and benefit all highereducation stakeholders. Finally, the ultimate outcome of Thai Higher Educationclassification is quality improvement.
