Abstract
The purpose of this research was to study knowledge management in organic farmingand the characteristics of practicing communities of organic farmers, and to proposeguidelines to improve learning within the community of organic farming practices. Thisresearch was qualitative and the population used in this study was a community offarmers practicing organic farming in the areas of Supanburi, Nakhonsawan and Pichitprovinces. Tools used for data collection consisted of interviews with farmers, groupinterviews and observation of farmer practices within the areas. Research resultsshowed that characteristics of communities practicing organic farming could becategorized into three groups as follows: the group with organic farming backgrounds, the group with health backgrounds, and the group with civil society backgrounds, which later led to organic farming and obtained better outcomes than any other group.Knowledge management for the organic farming learning process of a practicingcommunity required a facilitator to draw tacit knowledge from farmers’ experiencefrom practice and from the farmer’s center for adult education to compare the learningoutcomes. The guidelines to improve the organic farming practicing communitylearning process is to apply potential assessment of the community and use adevelopment facilitator from the farmers in order to create a skill learning process inpracticing communities.
