Abstract
Nowadays, the rapid growth of computer technology has a wide range of applications, especially with regard to security. Furthermore, security is a high priority for manyorganizations. Biometrics is a well-known technology used for enhancing securitysystems. Applications of such technology are based, for example, on personalcharacteristics as authentication equipment, and depends on a selection of methods, characteristics, and applications. This paper is mainly based on the biometrics ofartificial neural networks, because the neural network is a popular technology forclassification and can be applied in pattern recognition applications. Specifically, thispaper presents a biometric overview and artificial neural networks-based biometrics assomething personal, such as an infrared thermogram, odor, ear shape, hand geometry, fingerprint, face, retina, iris, palm print, voice, or DNA. The paper includes acomparison of neural networks-based biometric technologies.
