Abstract
Perspective taking is an aspect of social development which enables individuals tothink about and consider other people more. As a result, individuals can understandother people’s thoughts, emotions, and feelings, and this leads to conventionalbehavior, e.g. prosocial behavior, good relationships with others, problem solvingability, and development in moral judgment. Psychologists who are interested inperspective taking like Piaget and his colleagues agree that perspective taking willoccur when a child lessens his/her ego centricism, and this ability will develop inaccordance with their age and cognitive development (Feffer and Gourevitch, 1960;Piaget and Inhelder, 1956; Selman, 1979). Children should more or less have theirperspective taking ability by the age of nine. Following are the factors which supportperspective taking in children: parenting styles, interaction with peers, being selfconfident, and a role play teaching approach.
