Abstract
The purpose of this article was to address a question of whether aging or age bias isan obstacle to adoption of new communication technology among older adults. Basedon previous studies, aging was not a major barrier to learning and using the Internet.Rather, two barriers to a widespread use of the Internet among older adults were agebias and a lack of training programs adapted to older adultsû learning pace. Internetuse yields positive effects on older adultsû mental well-being. It provides an accessto obtaining information, communicating with others, and maintaining healthy socialrelationships. Although, in Thailand, low numbers of older adults use the Internet, moresupport from government and private sectors would benefit older adults mentally and thesociety at large.
