Abstract
The purpose of the research is to study the overall profile of Thai rural inhabitants fromthe past development, and build up the development index, together with find the correlationamong factors significantly influencing the development of rural Thai Village. DevelopmentComposite Index (VDCI) is constructed from Factor Analysis of the household[s and villages[primary information surveyed by Community Development Department.It is found that 9,761 villages are least developed, 16,971 less developed, 38,659 highlydeveloped and 5,739 the highest developed. The factor which crucially influences thedevelopment of rural villages in Thailand is the basic characteristics of the village. The resultscould be used for setting the policy to directly tackle the problem and improve the living of theexact target group of the rural inhabitants.
