Abstract: Garbage is currently one of the big issues that Thailand is currently facing. Due to thefact that Thai garbage disposal system is still not fully efficient because there are only a fewgarbage disposal cars bought from overseas. At the present time, Thailand has its disposal systemthrough labor intensive, instead of developing its own garbage disposal car. By using laborintensive, it may result in injury or muscle fatigue because the road sweepers need to hold asweeper and a trash holder containing wet trash or heavy weight of litter. This project, therefore,proposed an idea of how to research and develop a small garbage disposal car that can sweepgarbage on the public road. By designing the car, it is essential to consider a concept of“Anthropometry” that is referred to as the comparative study of human body measurements andproperties (i.e., width, length, height). Considering the data derived from a measurement ofhuman anthropometry, this study is conducted to use the data for designing the seat height, seatlength, seat width, and garbage can height for the small garbage disposal car. This researchconsiders male and female’s anthropometry data that is at the 50th percentile representing thedesign for average. The purpose is to provide the information of how to design the optimum sizeof the garbage disposal car that can be used for both genders.This car can sweep the garbage that is sucked by the vacuum system with a volume of0.09 cubic meters. A blower that is used for suction the garbage has suction capability of 11 cmw.g., and a driving motor of 7.5 horsepower (or 109 cc.). Its structure dimension is 800 × 1500 ×1350 millimeters. The main objectives of this research are: (1) to develop the small garbagedisposal car used for substituting labor content, (2) to conduct a comparative study between thesmall garbage disposal car and the sweeper and trash holder, and (3) to develop the small garbagedisposal car with a low cost production.
