Ministry of Labour and Welfare, a newly established ministry in the Thai bureaucracy is expected to be an organization which is small and beautiful and smart organization. However, in the past the introduction of modern technology and information technology for the development of the Ministry was very slow due to the shortages of IT personnel and the lack of personnel development in this area, particularly in the Office of Permanent Secretary. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct a study on "Strategies for Developing Personnel of the Office of Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare in Response to the Crisis of Shortages in Information Technology Personnel" by surveying the problem of IT personnel shortage and analyzing training needs in the area of information technology in the Office of permanent Secretary in order to recommend strategics for the development of IT personnel in the next 3 years (2000-2002). This study is a survey research. The data were collected from related documents, questionnaires and brainstroming. The sample groups included: 120 Chiefs of various sections and 37 IT experts. The results showed that there is only one position in Information Technology available under the office of Permanent Secretary. But this position has been vacant for the past five years,and the Ministry has been unable to find a suitable person to fill this position.Presently, there are 921 personnel working under the Office of permanent Secretary, but no one has qualification in Information Technology of Computers.||URI:||https://scholar.utcc.ac.th/handle/6626976254/211||Rights:||This work is protected by copyright.
