Abstract
This research aimed to study: 1) student trainee characteristics desired by hospitality personnel in Bangkok; 2) a comparison of student trainee characteristics desired by personnel and training managers, front office managers, and front office staff. The sample group was 510 persons, consisting of personnel and training managers, front office managers, and front office staff working in hospitality enterprises in Bangkok. Data was collected by using questionnaires and analyzed to obtain percentage, mean, standard deviation, and F-test. The analyzed data showed that the most important characteristics in student trainees were interpersonal relations, morality and ethics. This was followed by professional skills, working ability and the final characteristic required in student trainees was general knowledge. The comparison of student trainee characteristics desired by personnel and training managers, front office managers, and front office staff found that their opinions concerning general knowledge showed no significantdifference. However, those concerning general professional skills and working ability as well as professional skills for the front office and interpersonal relations, morality and ethics all showed a significant difference.
