Abstract
Understanding the sources of sustained competitiveadvantage has become a major area of research instrategic management. For the long term success of afirm, it must not only pay attention to the rapid changes inthe marketplace but also to its internal strength. Thisresearch develops the methodology for resource-basedsupply chain positioning and applies it to five industrycase studies with five SMEs in Singapore. Based on theirfeedbacks on the feasibility, usability and usefulness ofthe methodology, refinement is then made to themethodology. The final refined methodology can help thedecision makers of firm in the industry to formulate theirstrategy based on both critical resources and significantactivities to cope with the dynamic market changes. Thismethodology is intended to help SMEs in Singapore,which have various resource constraints to consider inorder to compete successfully in the marketplace.
